The motto at Alumacraft boats is Family. Fishing. Forever. Alumacraft has been a major presence in the fishing world for over 70 years. Alumacraft is all about the boating community. They are fishing boats created by fishing enthusiasts for fishing enthusiasts. Alumacraft boats stay in families for generations.
Originally founded in 1893 as the Flour City Ornamental Iron Company, the company produced the iron that sustained construction efforts in Minneapolis/St. Paul. The company switched to producing airplane parts and aluminum pontoons during World War 2 and afterward used the surplus metal and skilled labor to produce aluminum fishing boats.
The Alumacraft name and brand first appeared in 1946. In 1970 the company was bought by Timpte Industries, Inc. and they moved to a 100,000 square foot facility in St. Peter, MN, which has been their home to this day. In 1974 Alumacraft boats purchased General Marine Corp. in Arkadelphia, AR, adding a line of southern boats to their inventory. In 1996, Alumacraft’s golden anniversary, they sold over 500,000 boats, making Alumacraft one of the largest boat manufacturers in the country.
The formula at Alumacraft boats is simple: hire the best available people, listen to the customers, and build the boats they want. It’s been a proven philosophy that’s led to 70 years of success, and they plan to employ it for the next 70 years.
